The Association for Gravestone Studies (AGS) is a non-profit that was founded in 1977 for the purpose of furthering the study and preservation of gravestones and cemeteries. AGS is an international organization with an interest in gravemarkers and cemeteries of all periods and styles.

 

Among the members of AGS are professionals and amateurs; individuals, organizations, and institutions. They represent the fields of anthropology, art history, religion, linguistics, photography, folk art, commemorative art, genealogy, historic preservation and others.
