A Walk Through Moravian Cemetery (Staten Island, New York) by Richard Simpson, Historian and Tour Guide of Moravian Cemetery, is now available. The main chapter of the hard cover, 203 page, coffee-table book, contains biographical information for over 350 men and women interred in Moravian Cemetery which was founded in the year 1740. They include the early Dutch, French and English settlers of Staten Island. Many of these families (Cortelyou, Van Nostrand, Cropsey, Stillwell) first settled in Brooklyn and then removed to Staten Island.

 

Other chapters include: Gravestones: types, motifs, inscriptions; Cemetery Records; Mausoleums; Statuary; and buildings on the grounds of the cemetery.
